How To Use PromptMeGood

Everything you need to get great prompts β€” every step, every field, every boost, and every pro tip in one place. New here? Start with the Beginner Guide and work your way down.

PromptMeGood is currently in early access. All features are unlocked while we improve the product.

Beginner Guide

1. The 5-Step Flow

This mirrors the in-app tour β€” replay it anytime from the footer.

  1. Goal. Type what you want help with in plain words β€” the more specific, the better.
  2. Adjust settings or use Guide Me (optional). Tweak Category, Tone, Format, or other fields β€” or click Guide Me to be walked through the choices with 4 quick questions.
  3. Generate. Click Generate Prompt β€” your structured prompt appears in the output box on the right. Or hit Use Demo Values to launch a guided walkthrough you can replay anytime from Replay Tour at the bottom of the page.
  4. Refine / Undo. Tap More Detailed, More Aggressive, or Beginner Friendly to upgrade in place. Use Undo Last Change to step back. Set a Max Response Length or add Guardrails in the builder to control length and avoid bad habits.
  5. Check / Copy / Use. Read your Prompt Strength score and tap Check Prompt Quality for quick suggestions, click Copy Prompt, then open it in ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity β€” we highlight the best fit for your goal.

Guide Me (Guided Setup)

Not sure how to phrase your goal? Tap the green Guide Me button at the top of the builder. We'll ask 4 short questions β€” what you need help with, who it's for, the outcome that matters most, and any rules or limits for the AI β€” then fill the builder for you.

  1. Click Guide Me at the top of the builder.
  2. Answer each question (use Back to revisit any answer).
  3. Tap Done on the last step. The Goal, Extra Details, and Guardrails get filled in.
  4. Review, adjust if needed, and click Generate Prompt.

Use Cases

The cards in Popular Ways To Use PromptMeGood fill your goal for you.

  1. Click a card.
  2. Adjust the goal if you want.
  3. Click Generate Prompt.

Get Ideas Instantly

If you're not sure what to ask, tap the 🎲 Need ideas? button in the Use Cases section. It generates a fresh set of 6 high-quality starting points. Pick one to auto-fill your goal and get moving.

Tip: If none of the ideas fit, tap the dice again for a new set.

2. Form Fields

Your Goal (Start Here)

The seed of the whole prompt. One honest sentence is enough.

Category

Tells PromptMeGood which kind of problem you're solving. Pick the closest fit; if nothing fits, choose Other.

  • Business β€” strategy, sales, operations
  • Money β€” income ideas, profit, fast action
  • Content β€” hooks, scripts, storytelling
  • Career β€” resumes, interviews, growth
  • Personal β€” decisions, relationships, life
  • Productivity β€” focus, habits, systems
  • Learning β€” explanations, practice, skills
  • Faith β€” Scripture-focused guidance
  • Other β€” anything that doesn't fit

Experience Level

Beginner simplifies. Intermediate skips basics. Advanced goes deep on strategy.

Tone

Professional, Aggressive, Casual, or Expert β€” match it to where you'll use the answer.

Output Format

Step-by-step for action, list for fast scanning, detailed breakdown for deeper learning.

Output Language

Pick the language for the AI's reply. The app interface stays in English. Available: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French, German.

Personality Mode

Adds a specific voice to the AI's reply. Try a few to see what fits.

  • No Personality Added β€” neutral.
  • Direct & Straightforward β€” no fluff.
  • Friendly & Conversational β€” relaxed.
  • Bold & Persuasive β€” convincing.
  • Professional & Structured β€” polished.
  • Creative & Expressive β€” imaginative.
  • Faith-Based & Convicting β€” spiritual clarity.
  • Street-Smart & Practical β€” real-world.
  • Luxury Brand Voice β€” premium.
  • Viral Social Media Voice β€” punchy.

Extra Details

Optional. Add budget, timeline, platform, audience, or rules or limits for the AI. Every extra detail sharpens the answer.

Max Response Length

Tells the AI how long the answer should be. Pick a preset (100 / 200 / 300 / 500 words) or choose Custom to type any word count. Leave it on No limit for full-length answers.

Guardrails (things to avoid)

Tell the AI what not to do. Examples: "don't sound robotic", "avoid jargon", "don't recommend paid ads". These get added to the prompt as explicit limits.

Advanced Features

3. Optional Boosts

Toggle these on to shape how the AI responds. They stack β€” combine for stronger results.

Money Mode

Pushes answers toward practical, results-driven action. Turn off for neutral, general-purpose prompts.

Human Voice Mode

Reduces robotic patterns. Turn on whenever the answer will be read by other people.

Clarity Boost Mode

Cleaner structure, defined terms, easier-to-follow steps. Use it when you want the answer organized end-to-end.

Photo Prompt Mode

Builds detailed prompts for AI image tools (Midjourney, DALLΒ·E). Adds lighting, camera, composition, and visual depth.

4. Undo and manual edits

Refinement Buttons

One-tap upgrades that update the current prompt in place β€” no re-typing.

  • More Detailed β€” adds depth, examples, structure.
  • More Aggressive β€” sharper, more action-focused.
  • Beginner Friendly β€” simpler explanations.

Fine-Tune Your Prompt

Tell PromptMeGood exactly what to change. Type something like "make it shorter", "add examples", or "focus on beginners", then tap Update Prompt. Form inputs stay as they were.

Manual Editing

Click anywhere inside the output box and type. An "Edited manually" label confirms your edits are active. Manual edits flow through to Copy, saved history, Print / Save PDF, and the ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity buttons.

Undo Last Change

Undo restores the previous version of the prompt β€” every refinement, fine-tune, and manual edit can be stepped back. Generating a new prompt, restoring one from history, or using Clear Prompt resets the current manual edit state and clears the undo stack. Saved prompt history is not affected.

5. Using your prompt

Use your prompt in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or any AI platform you choose. Tap one of the buttons to copy and open the tool in one step, or use Copy Prompt and paste it anywhere else.

Copy Prompt

One tap copies the latest version (including any manual edits) to your clipboard.

Use Your Prompt In

The ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity buttons each copy the current prompt to your clipboard and open the AI tool in a new tab. Just paste and run. Test across all three to see which gives the best answer.

Check Prompt Quality

Tap Check Prompt Quality below the output to get up to 3 quick suggestions β€” flags vague goals, missing details or guardrails, and missing length limits. It runs locally and never leaves your device.

Print / Save PDF

Send the current prompt to print or save it as a PDF for offline reference.

6. Clearing text

Use the Clear buttons to quickly empty long fields without holding backspace.

  • Clear goal β€” empties the Your Goal field only.
  • Clear extra details β€” empties the Extra Details field only.
  • Clear fine-tune instructions β€” empties the Fine-Tune Your Prompt field only.
  • Clear Prompt β€” clears the current generated prompt and resets the manual edit state and undo stack.

Clear Prompt only clears the current generated prompt. It does not erase your saved prompt history, your form settings, or your other fields.

7. Managing prompt history

Prompt History stores your recent prompts on this device. Use the compact rows to keep the section clean, expand a prompt for more actions, or use Clear All History if you want to start fresh.

Compact rows and More actions

Each saved prompt shows its name, time, and a short preview by default. Tap More actions on a row to reveal the full action set β€” Restore, Copy, Favorite, Save As Template, Duplicate, Add Name, Edit Tags, Add Note, Archive, Delete, and the Remix shortcuts. Tap again to collapse.

Collapse All

Hides every expanded row at once so you can scan the list quickly. It does not delete anything.

Clear All History

Deletes every saved prompt on this device. You'll be asked to confirm first because it cannot be undone. Templates, favorites stored as separate data, and your current generated prompt are not affected.

Export & Import

Export Everything downloads a JSON backup. Import Backup restores it on any device. Use it before clearing your browser or switching devices.

Smart Systems & Expert Mode

Smart Systems

PromptMeGood reads your goal as you type and quietly tunes the rest of the builder for you.

  • Smart Suggestions. As you type your goal, we suggest the best Category, Tone, Output Format, and Max Response Length. A small Suggested badge appears next to each field we have a recommendation for.
  • AI Tool Recommendation. Based on your goal we highlight the best fit out of ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity with a Recommended label and a soft glow.
  • Prompt Strength. After you generate a prompt, you'll see a 0–100% score with 2–3 quick insights so you know what to improve next.
  • This Week's Focus. A new starter goal appears at the top of the builder every 7 days. Tap it to drop it straight into your goal field.

Auto Optimize (Recommended)

Auto Optimize suggests the best category, tone, format, and length based on your goal. You can keep the suggestions or adjust them manually.

Expert Mode

Expert Mode removes guidance and unlocks full control for advanced users. Recommended only if you're comfortable building prompts manually. Toggle it in the builder header β€” Auto Optimize switches off automatically.

Advanced Options

Advanced Options let you control how your prompt behaves. Guide Me and Auto Optimize may suggest options based on your goal, but you can always turn them on or off.

  • Money Mode β€” practical, results-driven answers.
  • Human Voice Mode β€” more natural writing.
  • Clarity Boost Mode β€” clearer structure and steps.
  • Photo Prompt Mode β€” better prompts for image tools.

Theme Accent

Personalize the look of PromptMeGood with your favorite accent color. Your choice is saved to this browser and applied instantly on every page.

  • Where to find it. Scroll to the footer on the home page and look for Theme Accent. Tap any colored dot to switch.
  • Five options. PromptMeGood Green (default), Deep Blue, Royal Purple, Warm Gold, and Slate.
  • Works with Light or Dark. Each accent has tuned light- and dark-mode variants so contrast stays comfortable either way.
  • Reset to default. Tap the green dot any time to return to the original look.

Tips & Best Practices

8. Pro Tips

  • Be specific. "Help me write a tweet about coffee aimed at remote workers" beats "help me write a tweet."
  • Use Extra Details. Budget, deadline, audience, platform β€” every detail sharpens the answer.
  • Refine instead of restarting. The refinement buttons + Fine-Tune Your Prompt are usually faster than typing a new goal.
  • Use Clear when starting fresh. The Clear buttons empty long fields without holding backspace, so you can iterate faster.
  • Try different Personality Modes. One of the quickest ways to change a result.
  • Edit before you save. Click inside the output box, polish the wording, then copy.
  • Test across platforms. ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity each respond differently.
  • Save winners. Favorite, tag, or note prompts you'll want to reuse.
  • Combine boosts. Money + Human Voice + Clarity often produces the strongest results.
  • Use the "Need ideas?" feature when you're stuck. It's the fastest way to discover useful prompts.
  • Don't overthink the goal box. A messy, honest sentence beats a polished vague one.
  • Try the example chips ("Try one of these") if you're stuck. They're great starting points.

9. Common Mistakes

  • Being too vague. Add what, who, where, and by when.
  • Ignoring output format. List vs step-by-step changes how usable the answer is.
  • Skipping the refinement tools. The first prompt is rarely the best one.
  • Starting over instead of refining. Use the buttons, Fine-Tune, or Undo first.
  • Skipping Money Mode when it fits. If the goal is execution and income, leaving it off softens the answer.
  • Forgetting to save winners. Tag and favorite prompts you'll want again.
  • Getting stuck thinking of the perfect idea instead of using the idea generator to get started.
